Good News of the Kingdub

jesus said the good news of the kingdom would be preached, and then the end would come.

if you believe in jesus, then you believe in what he says, so there is an end.

second, who is preaching the good news today, like jesus said?

vancouver bc - backround info

i am hoping someone out there maybe from the vancouver area and help me out......i am looking for some background info.

during the late 70's and 80's, i was still quite young and all the bad or nasty stuff was hidden from young ears.

i do remember though catching wind of certain scandals and mass disfellowshippings etc.....but the details were hidden from children and quietly whispered about by the adults.

James Penton and his break away group did print some monthly publications in the early days. I have most of them still.

Plus the brother from the Governing body Raymond Franz I believe was his name, he wrote a book, its at home I forget the name of it, but it gives a good view of what when on up in the head quarters in NY.

You were asking about what happened in the early 80s or very late 70s. Well let me try to tell you what I know. I was in northern Alberta at the time.

It was a big shake up, right from the top, one of the governing body Franz not the pez but his nephew, many member of the Bethel family, right on down to the little guy in the local congregations.

Many of us were questioning some of the teachings, ie: chronologies, the two classes: The little flock and the other sheep, some of use believe there is only ONE faith, One HOPE and ONE baptism. There were many issues at the time. In our congregation there was about 4 or 5 families that were affected, two were disfellowshiped the rest just disassociated.

I could go into great detail about all that was happening but I really dont know that it serves any useful purpose.

That shake up was over doctrinal differences with some of the more senior or should I say spiritually minded ones, a lot of others got on the band wagon not so much because of the ideology, but more out of friendship and family ties.

Anyhow if you want to ask me any thing in particular just ask..

Getting over the "Imperfect Org" defe...

hey guys,.

i was wondering if you have a response when you present stuff about pedo, un, rutherford, etc, and a jw says, "well they are imperfect people.. the last respons i got was, only jesus was ever the perfect channel of god - which of course i agree.. but it's like if you ever bring up anything about anything, the stock response is, "we'll it's an imperfect organization.... your response???.

I know you may think you have examined all religions, but do you know that there are over 30,000 different sect, branches, splinter groups, denominations ect.,of those professing to be Christians alone. And I venture to say most all of them hold the view to some degree or another, that they and they alone are Gods chosen ones.

Now tell us again with a straight face that you have examined all religions.

What virtue is there in being the best of the worst?

Hello again to everyone:

Boy its hard to know where to start. First off I was raised a JW from infancy and am now 48.

A couple of you have asked if I was one of the anointed. At the time I left the organization I did profess to have a heavenly hope. This is another whole story that would take a fair bit of time to regurgitate and redigest, but all good things in their time.

I guess the main reason I checked in here is that my father has made one of his once ever 7 or so year visits to try and get me to go back to the Hall. The poor man just cannot fathom the idea that a person could have a spiritual thought out side of the organization. He is lost with out his publications; the Bible is not enough, which is sad, as he has been with the JWs since the late 40s. I feel he has missed out on so much, we have given him 3 grand children and two great grand children, which he would not even recognize if they were to stand in front of him. He has missed out on so much joy and happiness, or at least that is how I few family life.

I left the organization entirely over doctrinal issues, having said that there was a whole lot of the other stuff going on. I left the organization in the early 80s but still feel somewhat tied because of family ties, maybe ties is not the right word I should of said family divisions.

I have been on a great spiritual journey over the past 20 or so years since my departure, never once have I regretted my decision.

Thank you everyone for all the kind words and introductions. I see there are a few Canadians here, thats cool. I will get around to talking with all of you who would like to, in due time. I'm a bit busy at this time.
